Who Is Thunderkick?
Thunderkick was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2012 by a group of developers who left NetEnt to pursue a different, more creative approach to slot design. The studio holds a UK Gambling Commission licence and a Malta Gaming Authority licence, alongside a Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) permit and further registrations including Ontario's AGCO. Thunderkick has remained independent and privately held since founding, with no acquisition on record.
What Makes Thunderkick Distinctive
Rather than building around one trademarked mechanic, Thunderkick's identity rests on art direction: small, agile teams ship games on shorter cycles with a minimalist, illustration-led visual style and unconventional creature- and character-driven themes, in place of the generic fruit-machine or heavily licensed-IP approach common elsewhere in the market.
Notable Titles
Esqueleto Explosivo (and its sequel) paired a Day of the Dead theme with a cascading-wins format and later added a sequel expanding the format. Pink Elephants, and its sequel Pink Elephants 2, is one of the studio's most recognisable original concepts, built around a surreal, pastel-toned visual identity distinct from most slot art design.
