Who Is Big Time Gaming?
Big Time Gaming (BTG) was founded in Sydney, Australia in 2011 by Nik Robinson. In 2021, Evolution (Evolution Gaming Group AB) acquired BTG in a deal announced in April and completed in June of that year, for consideration of up to €450 million. BTG continues to operate as a studio brand following the acquisition.
What Makes Big Time Gaming Distinctive
BTG's defining contribution to the industry is Megaways: a mechanic that varies the number of symbols landing on each reel every spin, creating up to 117,649 ways to win on a single spin. BTG developed and trademarked the mechanic and licenses it to other studios, who build their own Megaways-branded titles under that licence while BTG retains the trademark and licensing revenue.
Notable Titles
Bonanza, released in 2016, is the title BTG itself credits with establishing its reputation and popularising Megaways as a mechanic. Extra Chilli is another of its own titles named by Evolution as a "world-wide player favourite" alongside Bonanza. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Megaways and White Rabbit are also among BTG's well-known releases.
